O P Ralhan is dead

MUMBAI: Veteran actor, producer and director O P Ralhan died on Tuesday of heart attack at his Cuffe Parade residence. He was 71. He is survived by a son and a daughter. He was married to Manorama, sister of actor Rajendra Kumar, whom he later divorced. Funeral will be held on Wednesday morning at 10 am at Chandan Wadi. Ralhan produced and directed seven films including Phool Aur Pathar, Hulchul, Gehra Daag etc.

Indo-Bangla firing

NEW DELHI: Tension mounted in the usually peaceful Indo-Bangla border as troops across exchanged fire killing at least seven persons including four securitymen – two each on either side last night. The firing was sparked off by a dacoity bid on Murshidabad border in which one of the infiltrators was injured and apprehended by the BSF men.

Cricket manager

MUMBAI: The Indian cricket board has appointed former Test player Brijesh Patel as the manager of the Indian World Cup team.
