AHMEDABAD, April 20: Maniben Karsanbhai Patel, 60, a resident of Roop Madhuri Society in Naranpura, died at a private clinic run by Dr M.T. Bhatia near Dinbai Tower reportedly after being administered a wrong injection, said Karanj police.According to the Karanj police, Maniben's son Rajesh lodged a complaint that his mother died after she was given ``wrong injection'' by Dr Bhatia at his clinic. The police quoted Rajesh as saying that his mother had complained of pain in the shoulder on April 16 following which she was taken to Dr Dinabhai A. Patel at 41, Nathalal Colony.
After examining Maniben, Dr Patel referred the case to Dr Bhatia and told them to contact him at his residence, 31, Hindu Colony, near Sardar Patel Colony. Bhatia, after examining the, case asked the relatives to get two medicines for injection, said Karanj police.
After Maniben was given an injection she fell unconcious. The doctor called other doctors. The patient's relatives called family doctor Dharmendra Vyas. The doctors declared her dead, said police. Dr Bhatia said that the body was sent for post mortem and the report would reveal what had gone wrong. He said that the injection he had prescribed was the one the patient's relatives had bought.
Bhatia said that he had been prescribing the injection for the last 20 years. He also said that Maniben had other complaints, too, and hence he wasn't in a position to ascertain the exact cause of the death. A post mortem would reveal the exact cause of death. The doctor did not give the name of the medicine administered by injection.
