Mock fire drill organised at Rajkot airport

RAJKOT, April 20: Two fire fighters, one Ambulance and 10 fire fighting personnel took part in a mock fire drill enacted for the first time at Rajkot airport on Tuesday to train the airport staff to meet any emergency or actual fire incident.

In-charge airport officer N Chaudhary said that it is very important to have good fire fighting equipment and team at airport. Deputy fire officer K N Vasava says that their training programme consists of two parts -- to control the fire and save the passengers. The training exercise was conducted in the main airport building. On ringing of the alarm call, the fire fighting personnel rushed to the spot and demonstrated their skills by rescuing the people who were trapped in the fire. The whole exercise was carried out smoothly.
