8-year-old raped
An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 20-year-old neighbour in the Mehrauli area of south Delhi on Monday. According to the police, the girl's parents are employed in the Anupam farmhouse in Mehrauli. They and the girl had reportedly gone to watch television at the accused Shiv Prasad's house in the neighbouring farmhouse yesterday afternoon. The girl reportedly fell asleep and her parents thought it better to leave her sleeping there rather than disturb her. Later, around 5.30 pm, the girl returned home and fainted. According to the police, the girl told her parents that she had been sexually assaulted by Prasad. The man has been arrested.

Fake cosmetics racket busted
The Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) section of the crime branch has busted a factory unit making fake cosmetics and toiletries under major brand labels. As a result, around Rs 20 lakh worth goods were seized from the unit in the Yamuna Vihar area of north-west Delhi on Monday.

According to the police, two automatic filling machines installed at a factory for filling pouches of toothpastes, shampoo and gutka have also been seized.

The police reportedly received a complaint from Vijay Prakash Gupta of the Henna Export Corporation that an illegal unit was flooding the market with duplicate products.

The police said that though the owner of this unit, Pramod, had been arrested twice for the same offence twice before, he continued his operations.

Man kills youth for teasing wife
Upset over the fact that a labourer had teased his wife, a 24-year-old man reportedly killed the man in the Dabri area of south-west Delhi here on Monday. According to the police, when Rajesh Kumar Sharma came to know that an 18-year-old labourer, Gullu, who was working near his Sitapuri house had teased his wife, he got upset. He reportedly, marched to where Gullu was working and started beating him. He allegedly also threw a brick at him and though the others present tried to stop him, he stopped only when Gullu felt unconscious. The latter was rushed to Deen Dyal Upadhyay hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. A case of murder has been registered against Sharma who is absconding.

Man found strangled
A 63-year-old man was found strangled to death in his Gamri Extension residence early on Tuesday morning. According to the police, Kishan was sleeping in a ground floor room at his nephew's house, while the rest of the family slept upstairs. He was reportedly separated from his wife and children and was living with his nephew. Some jewellery has also been reported missing, the police said.

Man arrested
A 27-year-old man Narendra Pal was arrested by the east district police. According to the police, Pal is a proclaimed offender and extortionist wanted in three cases. Acting on a tip-off that Pal would be meeting his friends at the Jagatpuri bus stop on the night of April 19, the police laid a trap and apprehended him. There was even an exchange of fire between the two parties before Pal was arrested. The police seized a country-made pistol of .315 bore and two live cartridges from him. The police later also recovered three more .315 bore pistols.
