Inter-state gang of carjackers fall in Noida police net

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NOIDA, April 20: The Sector 39 police today claimed it had busted an inter-state gang of car-jackers after arresting two persons and seizing two cars and a Tata Sumo from them.

The police are also sending a party to Assam to recover more cars and arrest the kingpin of the gang.

Addressing a press conference here the Senior Superintendent of Police of Gautam Budhha Nagar, Anand Kumar today said that the Station House Officer of Sector 39 S.K. Sharma recieved a tip-off that members of a gang of car-jackers would be passing through Noida with stolen vehicles.

The police later arrested two persons Rajpal and Jeet Singh in a blue Maruti car near Sector 37.

The duo confessed to stealing the car from near Kailash Hospital in Sector 27 on August 28 last year. They told the police that the original registration number of the vehicle had been DL-1C-4896.

The duo told the police that their gangleader would be reaching the place soon in a Tata Sumo. Soon after that a Sumo came to a halt a few yards before the police picket, but the driver of the vehicle managed to escape. Working on information from the accused, the police seized one more Maruti.

The accused were also carrying a briefcase, which had fake stamps and registration certificate books from different districts.

They also reportedly told the police during interrogation that they stole cars from Delhi and Noida and would hand over these cars to gangleader Mannan Khan and Guddu in Etawah. After making fake documents, they would send these vehicles to one of their gangmen in Assam who runs a workshop. And the cars would later be circulated in the market.
