CHANDIGARH, April 20: Raj Singh will lead 20-member Chandigarh junior team, including four girls in the Junior National wrestling championship to be held at Lucknow from April 25 to May 1. The members of the teams were selected today at the Wrestling Coaching Centre in Sector 30.There was good response in the freestyle category in the boys group. However, in the Greeco Roman, seven wrestlers turned out for the trials.
In the girls section, five wrestlers took part in the selection procedure.
In the last edition of the meet held at Udaipur (Rajasthan), Chandigarh got four medals including one gold one silver and one bronze in the freestyle event and one gold in Greeco Roman event in the men's group.
Chand (gold 70kg), Surinder (silver 54kg), Raj Singh (bronze 76kg) got medals in freestyle. Anil won the gold medal in 97kg in Greeco Roman.
In the women section there were three medals. Chetna (46kg) and Ekta (50kg) won gold and silver medal, respectively. And Vidya got bronze in the 54kg.
The team coach is, however, confident of bagging more medals in the forthcoming National meet. ``We have good wrestlers and will bag more medals than the last edition,'' said Darshan Lal, coach of the team.

Boys: Freestyle: Surinder (50kg), Bijender (54kg), Jagbir (58kg), Sajjan (63kg), Raj Singh (69kg), Chand (76kg), Baljit (85kg), Pawan (97kg) and Kulbir (Plus 97kg). Greeco Roman: Joginder (54kg), Gurmail (58kg), Nitish (63kg), Sher Shikander (69kg), Jasbir (76kg), Naresh (85kg).
Girls: Freestyle: Sumita (43kg), Chetna (46kg), Ekta (50kg), Kulwinder (54kg).
Safri Lal, Darshan Lal, Amrik Singh will accompany the teams as officials.
