MUMBAI, APRIL 22: Business Consulting Group (BCG), which has completed ten years of operations, has been given the mandate to prepare the restructuring strategy for Wimco and Godavari Fertilisers. The company has completed a detailed exercise to reorient the distribution setup of Wimco involving restructuring the stockists network, sales setup and the processes for order fulfillment.The company is also engaged in an exercise to restructure the operations of Godavari Fertiliser which would lead to higher bottom lines for the company. It is helping Godavari in the process of implementing a strategy plan and managing the change required. ``In the case of Wimco, the net result of the exercise will be that it will be able to enhance market share through better distribution and at a lower cost per unit of the product,'' said Raj Nair, chairman, Business Consulting Group.
BCG, which was started in April 1989, has averaged a compounded growth rate of 30 per cent per annum over the ten years and about 50 per centper annum in the last five years. Currently, the firm has over 40 consulting professionals in Mumbai and Chennai.
Raj Nair said the company has identified certain sectors like telecom, transportation, financial services, metals and chemicals as thrust areas for development based on their strengths. ``Over the years we have developed in-house methodologies which help to rationalise work involved on any assignment and quickly identify the crux of the problem,'' Nair said.
He said Business Consulting Group has worked for several clients in India and abroad like Ashok Leyland, BOC India, SIEL, HDFC, Hindustan Lever, Iridium, ITC Agrotech, Kirloskar, Larsen & Toubro, M&M, Pepsi Foods, Chemplast and the Rane group.
``We have helped a company in the auto dealership business to develop strategy to increase service revenue by ten-fold in 1998. We assisted an engineering company to achieve a five per cent increase in profit before tax/sales in 1997,'' Nair said.
