NSUI to hold demonstration

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
APRIL 22: The National Students' Union of India will hold a `peaceful demonstration' at the University of Mumbai's Fort campus on Friday, prior to the Management Council (MC) meeting scheduled at 11 am. NSUI president Rahul Khedekar said the the union will submit a memorandum to MC members, asking them to seek for Vice-Chancellor Dr Snehalata Deshmukh's resignation as the MBBS marks scam has ``tarnished the image of the university''. The Maharashtra Universities Act, 1994, has vested the MC with the power to enquire into any matter concerning the working of the university, the union said, adding that MC members must therefore seek more information on the MBBS marks scam. NSUI added that 50 per cent of the students had benefitted due to revaluation and in a letter to the Chancellor has demanded a judicial enquiry into the revaluation of the PSM paper of final year MBBS, conducted after the grace marks were withdrawn.
