Three PEC students expelled for one year in GMC case

CHANDIGARH, April 22: Three students of Punjab Engineering College (PEC), who allegedly attacked two Government Medical College students, have been expelled from college for a year. PEC principal Rajnish Prakash expelled them on Wednesday, acting on inquiry report. Five others who were found to have "helped the main culprits" have been fined between Rs 5,000 and Rs 1,000.Rajan Jindal, a final year student of Metallurgy, Vikas Gupta a final year mechanical engineering student and Anirudh Bhardwaj have been expelled from college for a year, on being found "fully involved in the incident". On the night of February 19, a group of drunk boys armed with hockey sticks and rods attacked Kamal Sharma and Hemant Sharma, students of GMC, in their rooms in Aravali Hostel. Both were severely injured. Sangarsh, Sidharth Shanker, Rohit Diwan, Parmanjit Singh and Manjit Singh -- have been accused of helping the three.
