Sector 44 resident robbed of Rs 1 lakh

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, April 22: Some persons broke into a house in Sector 44 and decamped with cash worth nearly Rs 1 lakh here today. The police have registered a case of theft and house-breaking.

Police sources said Sarojini Masih, principal of Chandigarh Baptist School in Sector 45, discovered about the theft around 2.30 p.m. when she returned home from work.

The door was bolted from inside. On pulling the door open with the help of her neighbours, she saw that the house had been ransacked and cash worth Rs 1 lakh was missing from her bedroom almirah on the ground floor of the three-storey house. Her son had left the house around noon. The thieves had apparently been keeping a watch on her house and had climbed the back wall to gain entry into the bed room, she said.
