Recruitment of constables put off

CHANDIGARH, April 22: The Chandigarh police have yet again postponed the recruitment of constables.

Slated to be held on April 27, the recruitments of the constables will now be held on July 30.

The official reason given for the postponement is "administrative exigencies". The posts of constables were advertised in October last andthe recruitments for the posts were meant to be made in the month of December. However, the recruitments were put off to February and then again to April. The recruitments of Assistant Sub-Inspectors too were put off on two occasions before they eventually began a few days ago.

Recarpeting of Sector 24 roads ordered
Mayor of the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh, Kewal Krishan Adiwal, leader of the MC House and Chairman of the Roads Committee R.L. Arora and former Mayor Kamla Sharma, today visited Sector 24, Sector 41 and Badheri village where work on carpeting of roads is being carried out by the engineering wing of the Corporation. They were accompanied by the Executive Engineer (roads) S.K. Chadha.

Soon after the visit, Adiwal told Newsline that carpeting of the roads in Sector 24 was not upto the mark. He also directed the MC officials present on the occasion to recarpet the roads and complete the task before the onset of the monsoons.
