EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
DERA BASSI, April 21: The 15-acre forest land near Bir Dandrala, two kilometre from here, was engulfed in a blaze that occurred around 3 p.m. today.

According to the residents, fire tender from Derra Bassi, which were pressed into service, have failed to contain the fire.

The forest officials, including Assistant Ranger Gagandeep Singh and Sub-Divisional Forest Officer Jasbir Singh visited the site. The Sub-Divisional Forest Officer claimed that animals like peacock, rabbits and blue bulls would perish in the fire.

The cause of fire and loss of forest property is yet to be ascertained, the forest officials added.
