Dist collector hospitalised
Amreli District Collector Arun Kumar Solanki late on Wednesday day rushed to Doctor House Hospital in Amreli with grievious head injuries. A portion of a concrete slab had fallen on him when he was dining with his neice at Ishan Farm on the outskirts of the town. The neice also received injuries but was out of danger. Hospital sources said today that he was critical and in the intensive care unit. Resident Deputy Collector Ashok Sharma has assumed charge in Solanki's absence.

Grains seized
A raid by district civil supplies officials has yielded rice, bajra, peas, grams and pulses worth Rs 3.50 lakh from the godown of Jagdish Trading Company in Danapeeth here. District Supplies Officer D M Modi says the company had violated norms for wholesale trading by storing all the commodities at one place instead of two places under two licences, and maintaining seperate bills.

Ceremony
The newly build Bhakti Mandir in the premises of Saibaba Vhaitanyadham at Veraval will organise the Pran-Pratishtha mahotsav (idol installation ceremony) on April 23. Idols of Ram, Radha Krishna, Tirupati Balaji and Guru Dattatreyaji will be installed in the new mandir among chanting of religions hymens.

Taxi strike
Rajkot taxi owners went on a strike on Thursday in protest against alleged high-handedness of traffic police. The taxi owners association said that traffic PSI Nagar had tried to drive them out of their taxi stands outside the GSRTC bus stop here saying that it was coming in the way of smooth traffic flow in the city.
