RAJKOT, April 22: A ten-day long consumer festival Vacation '99 will be held at Race Course from May 1. Besides a mega exhibition of consumer goods, a large number of contests and games will also be organised on the occasion. Nearly three lakh people are expected to visit the festival.According to the organisers of the event, 175 stalls will be set up. A separate enclosure will be set up for exhibition of audio-visual products along with a unique gallery of auto products. The articles on display will include consumer electronic goods, domestic appliances, beverages and confectionery products, personal care products, gift articles and various other goods. The contests will be held on specially developed theme areas every day. The events will include ras garba, antakshari, quiz, well dress, singing, dancing, talent show and fashion show. The participants will be from the entire region.
In addition to this, the festival will feature certain activities like workshops on painting on thermocol, clay modelling, handicrafts, making articles from waste, making magic collage etc.
The games offered to the visitors will include dart boards, basket rings, shooting boards, punch ball, virtual rides and pool tables. A special restaurant will also be developed for the festival which will have the capacity to serve 500 people at a time.
An amusement park will also be built up on the outside offering 15 different rides.
