Cong corporator held for RPI activist's murder

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NASHIK, April 23: Congress corporator Baban Bhavar, who had absconded after allegedly stabbing a Republican Party of India (RPI) activist on Monday, was arrested by the Nashik Road police last evening.

Bhavar had allegedly attacked the RPI activist, Sunil Kamble, when Kamble was talking to a friend in front of the RPI office in Gorewadi on Monday night. Kamble had apparently invited Bhavar's wrath by protesting the lack of civic amenities in the area.

On Monday night, Bhavar inflicted wounds on Kamble with a razor after an altercation. Kamble was rushed to hospital with wounds on his neck and face. Bhavar had absconded after the incident. The Nashik Road police had registered an offence of attempted murder against Bhavar and were on the lookout for him. He was arrested and later released on bail.
