HC stays Essar jetty
Ahmedabad:
The Gujarat High Court has stayed the construction of a jetty by Essar Oil off Vadinar coast in Jamnagar district and posted the matter for further hearing to May 6. A division bench comprising Justice S D Dave and Justice J R Vora in an order recently also issued notices to the environment ministry, the Chief wildlife warden and Essar Oil on a public interest petition filed by Halar Utkarsh Samiti.

The petition submitted that the project was in violation of the Environment Legislation and Wild Life (Protection Act), 1972. The petitioners submitted that the jetties were being proposed to be constructed by Essar Oil in the areas declared as Marine National Park and National Sanctuary.

Woolen exports
New Delhi: Exports of woolen products from India has registered a 3.3 per cent increase at Rs 3,589.66 crore during 1998-99 as against Rs 3475.17 crore the previous year.

Avanti Mopeds
Jaipur:
Indian moped "Avanti" would soon ply on Englandroads as it has cleared all the quality tests, a company statement said here today.

V K Talwar, the managing director of the Monto Motors Limited situated at Alwar in Rajasthan, said his company has restarted the manufacturing of Avanti moped which was closed down when Whirlpool took over the Kelvinator group's products.

He said the moped would be exported soon against the first order received from England, adding the vehicle has high fuel efficiency and suitable for Indian roads too.

Dupont issue
New Delhi:
E I Dupont India Ltd, is raising Rs 50 crore through a debenture issue to refinance its high cost of debt. The three year debenture will carry interest rate of 13 per cent to be paid annually or 12.6 per cent semi-annually.
