Scrap dealer sent to custody

VADODARA, April 27: Even as scrap-dealer Devendra Shankarlal Lashkari was sent to judicial custody, the Chhani police, who are investigating the case of two labourers who died while emptying drums of unidentified chemicals at Lashkari's premises, reportedly said they planned to arrest the party that sold the chemical-laden containers to the scrap-dealer.The company selling the container had been identified, sources said, adding that its owner was likely to be arrested in a day or two. According to the police, the company had committed a crime by violating rules regarding handling of hazardous chemicals.
