SURAT, April 27: The Kapodara police have registered cases of rioting against three youths who severly beat up a man, his wife and his sister on Monday night. All the three accused are absconding since.According to a complaint filed by Dharmesh Rathod, a resident of Puna Kumbharia on the outskirts of the city, Kaliyo, Ramesh and Dipak alias Dipo, all residents of the neighbourhood, beat him, his wife, and his sister when they informed them that they did not sell country liquor. The three came over to their house and demanded liquor from them, the police complaint stated.
According to the police, while Dharmesh was hit on the head with a knife by Ramesh, Kaliyo repeatedly hit Kusumben, Dharmesh's wife, with a bicycle chain. The third accused, Dipo, hit his sister Lilaben with a waist belt before all three escaped. All three accused are residents of neighbouring Khadi Mohalla in Puna Kumbharia, the police stated.
No one has been arrested so far and PSI H P Gameti is investigating further. A case under sections 323, 504, 324 and 114 of the IPC as well as section 135 of the BPA has been registered in the Kapodara police station.
