Gyan Bharti triumph

NEW DELHI, April 27: Half centuries each by Rajat Khanna (51) and Hitesh Tara (51) and some inspid bowling (3 for 39) by Angad Bedi enabled Gyan Bharti School (Saket) defeat DPS Amar Nath Cricket Academy by five wickets in the third Moonways JD Textile (U-19) cricket tournament for the BDM Trophy at the Gyan Bharti School ground here today.

Batting first DPS Academy made 210 with Mayur Bora (62), Dipen Thakur (40) and Ramesh Chander (27) making contributions. Left-arm spinner Angad Bedi bowled with purpose to claim three wicekts while Navdeep Tomar catpured two.

Gyan Bharti replying to DPS Acadmy's total, made 213 for the loss of five wickets with Khanna and Hitesh scoring identical 51. Ashish and Dipen got two wickets apiece.

In another match at GDA ground (Ghaziabad), Inborn Cricketers beat Daryaganj Gymkhana by 64 runs. Inborn made 179 with Maninder Singh topscoring (55) while for Daryaganj Anil Saini was the most successful bowler with three scalps.

Daryagajn Gymkhana in reply folded making 115 as some good bowling by Sonu Vaid, Manish Dabar and Rupesh kept them on a tight leash. The sole exception was Rohit Malik, who scored 30.

Collage in quarters: Hemant and Ashish Sharma helped Collage Group redeem themselves as they beat Delhi Blues by 85 runs in the TYCA Hari Singh Tyagi knock-out tournament at the Meakins ground here today.

Electing to bat, Collage made 393 for 6 in 80 overs after Hemant scored an unbeaten 86 not out and Rakesh Singh 77. But in reply, Delhi Blues mustered 308, thanks to some fine bowling by Ashish Sharma, who captured five wickets giving away 42 runs.

Brief scores: DPS Academy (210: M. Bora 62, D. Thakur 40, A. Bedi 3 for 39) lost to Gyan Bharti (213 for 5: R. Khanna 51, Hitesh 51, D. Thakur 2 for 20). Inborn (179: M. Singh 55, A. Saini 3 for 42) bt Daryaganj Gym (115: R. Malik 30, S. Vaid 3 for 36).

Collage Group (393 for 6: Hemant 86 not out, R.Singh 77, M. Kumar 70, Sanjay Gill 48, Sanjeet Mishra 3 for 79) bt Delhi Blues (308: Randeep Singh 78, Maninder Bola 58, Ashish Sharma 5 for 42).
