DSP Merill to launch Balanced Fund
DSP Merrill Lynch Asset Management India is launching an open-ended Balanced Fund, which proposes to generate long-term capital appreciation as well as current income from a portfolio of equity and equity-related securities and fixed income securities. The Fund will remain open for subscription from May 3 to May 14, 1999.

Guj Ambuja stuns by 43% rise in profit
Undeterred by dipping price realisations in cement, blue chip Gujarat Ambuja Cements on Wednesday stunned the markets with a whopping 43.2% rise in net profit during the third quarter ended March 31, 1999.

Canbank MF outperforms BSE
The Canbank Asset Management Company has outperformed the BSE Sensex. The fund has Rs 1,777 crore of assets under management with nearly eight lakh investors while the top 100 scrips of the fund account for around 97% of the total market value of the equities.
