Mohan Gokhale cremated
The mortal remains of veteran stage, film and television actor Mohan Gokhale, who died in Chennai on Thursday, were consigned to flames at Vaikunth crematorium here on Friday morning.

Film and theatre personalities including Dr Shriram Lagoo, Mohan Agashe, Niloo Phule, Chandrakant Kulkarni, playwright Satish Alekar, musician Anand Modak and other prominent personalities were present.

The body of Gokhale was brought to Pune from Mumbai early on Friday and kept at his house in Gokhale wada in downtown Sadashiv Peth for a few hours.

Internet facilities in Satara
Satara: Chief Minister Narayan Rane will soon formally inaugurate the Internet service in Satara, chairman of the first private Internet firm in western Maharashtra Udayanraje Bhosale said.

Parag Inamdar, executive director of the company was also present in the meeting.

Bhosale pointed out, the Internet facility would be an added advantage for the people of Satara. Executive director of the company Parag Inamdar gave a net link presentation on the occasion.The company has booked about 1,500 connections. Concessions have been offered to educational institutions, Inamdar said adding that the services were most economical compared to all the available options.

Katraj tunnel paritally closed
The tunnel in the Katraj ghat on Pune-Bangalore highway will remain partially closed for vehicular traffic facilitating repairs beginning from Sunday, an official communique said.

The work is expected to take about a month to finish. The highway users have been advised to use diversions as notified at different points along the road to avoid traffic snarls, the communique added.

Shirdi Sansthan files writ for land
Ahmednagar: The Shirdi-based Sai Sansthan has filed a writ petition before the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court, seeking permission to purchase the Maharashtra State Farming Corporation's (MSFC) 300 acres of land. However the farmers cultivating these lands have strongly opposed the move.The Shirdi Sansthan has sought the land around the Shirdi village for executing projects in public interest.
