The mela was inaugurated by the Minister for Development and Panchayat, Haryana Kanwal Singh. Kumud Kumar Barua, project officer with Anarde Foundation said, the Mela would provide rural artisans a chance to interact with urban buyers, so they can design their products according to demand. About 100 artisans from 20 states have displayed their handicrafts in the exhibition. Flower vases and planters with Japanese craft called imparta are priced between Rs 80 and Rs 600.

Ladies suits with patch work are available from Rs 350 to Rs 950. The price of Kolhapuri chappals varies between Rs 50 and Rs 250. Other items like cane and bamboo furniture from Assam and Tripura, tussar sarees, and stuffed toys are also available. The exhibition has been funded by the Council for Advancement of People's Action and Rural Technology.
