Solapur reels under scorching sun

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
SOLAPUR, May 4: Solapur today recorded the highest reading of 43.6 degree Celsius temperature during the current summer as the severe heat wave conditions continued in north madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada regions.

The highest maximum temperature recorded for Maharashtra during the day was of 45.6 degree at Akola in Vidarbha. Temperatures recorded in all other major cities in western Maharashtra were between 41 and 37 degree Celsius today.

Harsh heat conditions have posed serious health problems for citizens here, as the ever soaring mercury levels since the past few days has left its impact on city life. Eves pushed to travel during the afternoon hours, and even men were seen with covered faces as a precaution from skin-burns. With heat-hit Solapurites trying to get respite throng city gardens, swimming pools and the lake area during evenings, the city continues to wear a deserted look during the afternoon hours. Further the power cuts, like one experienced on Tuesday, make life more miserable under the scorching sun.
