Neeta, who had a relatively easy time yesterday against Ritu Kumar, found the going tough against her southern compatriot. She took the first frame with a comfortable 45-21 margin but squandered away the lead. Umadevi did well to level frame scores to take the match to the decider. The last of the best of three frame encounter was keenly fought where the favourite missed the bus by eight points.

Another Karnataka player Judy Walia lived up to her third seed tag as she made short work of young Aditi Puranik. The 12-year-old Aditi, daughter of the defending champion Ashwini had brought about a major stunner when she managed to beat two-time National champion and sixth seed here, Pooja Galundia (formerly Bharkatiya) of Rajasthan. The latter had further trouble later inthe evning today when she lost to Jagruti Patel 0-2.

The top seed Ashwini had little trouble today as she pulled a comfortable 2-0 win over Sowmini Naidu of Tamil Nadu.

Second seed Farah Khan also finished her match against Maharashtra's Sonal Mamoowalla with a similar scoreline.
