PERTH, MAY 6: India slumped to their second straight defeat when they lost 1-2 to Olympic silver medallists South Korea in the Four-Nation Telstra Challenge Women's Hockey Series here today.A crucial goal by Kim Eun-Jin in the 52nd minute was the decider in a closely-fought contest in cool, blustery conditions.
The Koreans took an early lead when Lee Eun-Young found the net in only the fourth minute, but three minutes later India were on level terms thanks to a strike by Suraj Lata Devi.
There were chances at both ends in a tense second half before Eun Jin Kim smacked home the winner.
India had lost its opening encounter 2-5 to South Africa yesterday.
Earlier, Olympic champions Australia defeated a gallant South Africa 3-1.
Shelley Andrews gave Australia the lead in the 16th minute she made it 2-0 after 51 minutes and Katrina Powell added a third in the 59th as Australia raced to its second successive victory. Yesterday The Hockeyroos had defeated South Korea 4-0.
South Africa managed aconsolation goal in the 62nd minute when Alison Dare found the net.
