Second bldg with helipad at Worli

MUMBAI, MAY 10: A 25-storey residential building at Worli, Marathon Heights, became the second skyscraper in Mumbai to have a helipad. Essar Towers at Mahalaxmi was the first building to boast of a helipad.

Addressing reporters on Saturday, Chetan Shah, Director of Marathon Realty the group which constructed the building, said the helipad was an afterthought and would be of use during emergency situations. ``In case of fire the fire brigade can reach only up to the 14th floor. During such times, the helipad can be used to air-lift residents to safety.''

However, Marathon Realty have not obtained a licence from the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation to the use the helipad on Marathon Heights.

Shah denied that helipads will not be built on two other towers of 16 floors his group is constructing at Mulund.

Marathon Heights, which has 35 flats including duplex flats of 2240 sq ft at a minimum rate of Rs 7,000 per sq feet. The building boasts of amenities like a swimming pool, gymnasium andsauna.
