According to the police, on the evening of May 8 when Muriappan (27) a canteen supervisor at the Hindustan Lever Limited Company picked up a quarrel with his friend Dilip Mendonca (25) over an alleged affair between Dilip and his wife's cousin.

Muriappan allegedly under the influence of alcohol stabbed Dilip to death and fled. He was arrested by the police at Dharavi late on Sunday.
