BJD's political affairs panel dissolved

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
BHUBANESWAR, MAY 10: Naveen Patnaik, the president of Biju Janata Dal, has dissolved the Political Affairs Committee of the party headed by Bijay Mahapatra.

The decision was taken late on Sunday night. The unilateral decision to dissolve the PAC has sparked off strong resentment among party leaders. Party secretary general Prasanna Acharya said that he has no knowledge about the decision.

Patnaik said, that the PAC will be constituted very soon as per the provisions of the party. Stating that the PAC was functioning in an ad hoc basis, the BJD chief said that he had to dissolve it in view of the mid-term poll for the Lok Sabha and by-elections to the state legislative assembly.
