Summer coaching camps begin

CHANDIGARH, May 10: Summer coaching camps in various discipline of sports under the aegis of the Chandigarh Sports Department began at the different sports centres in the city. More than five hundred sportspersons are attending the 15-day coaching camps, which is being held for the budding players, who are below the age of 18. ``The camps are being organised to keep the players fit,'' said one of the officials of the sports department.

Some of the disciplines in which the camps are being organised are basketball, athletics, gymnastics and volleyball.

The players in the camp are also being given refreshment by the Chandigarh Sports Council.

Last year, these camp were not held due to some unavoidable circumstances. However, this year, the response is good. ``There is big rush for the camps,'' said one of the coach. He added: ``The camps is beneficial for the players, who are gearing up for the coming competitive season ahead.''

All the camps will conclude on May 25.
