CHANDIGARH, May 14: The Finance and Contract Committee of the Municipal Corporation, at a meeting held today, recommended the provision of adequate staff for all community centres and complaint centres in the city to improve the services and functioning. The panel has also approved the schedule and charter of the complaint centre which were earlier set up in 10 different wards.
With the provision of staff at the complaint centres, the grievances of people relating to water, electricity, road and park repairs, garbage disposal and other day-to-day problems will be resolved. These complaint centres will function in two shifts from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the schedule of grievance removal will depend on the nature of the grievances. While the grievances regarding water and electricity will be sorted out within 48 hours, other issues may take more time.
The idea to set up complaints centre was mooted from Surat where a three-member team led by O.P. Goel had paid a visit in 1997. It was stated that each community centre will be provided one supervisor, one helper and one chowkidar-cum-cook for its smooth functioning.
