EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
PU NSS to set up literacy cells
National Service Scheme Department, PU, will set up literacy cells at villages and slum areas which have been adopted by the affliated colleges. According to Dr C.L. Narang, Programme Coordinator, NSS, PU, 14,000 volunteers and 200 programme officers will work in 250 villages continuously through regular activities.

49 girls adopted
As many as 49 financially weak girls were adopted by the teachers for free education under a project called "Chalo Beti School" which was launched by the headmaster of Government High School, Sector 40, S.Bahadur Singh today. Each staff member of the school adopted a girl child of Class I for free education. Sudesh Kalra, Deputy Director Adult Education Chandigarh Administration, also adopted a girl child for free education. The headmaster presented a cycle and Rs 2,100 to Anjalika, a student of Class VIII for securing a merit position.
