Angurala plots RRG triumph

NEW DELHI, May 14: Delhi Ranji bowler Sandeep Angurala plotted Rohtak Road Gymkhana's 87-run victory over Pusa Youngsters in the A-I division game of the DDCA superleague at the Palam 1 ground here today. Electing to bat first, they scored 254 with Neeraj Chawla making 80 and Pradeep Chawla 78.

When Pusa chased an imposing target, the leggie spun a web against their opponents to bring about their downfall with an excellent spell as he captured five for 13. He was prodded in his cause by Chetan Nanda, who accounted for four wickets, giving away 25 runs. Despite a stead RR Gymkhana bowling, lone resistance came from Atul Brown who made 71 while Rajesh Brown hit 37.

Similarly, another fine spell of six for 32 by left-arm spinner Aman Randev helped Madras Club beat Winsom Club by 26 runs in the A-I division match at the Palam 2 ground. Put in, Madras made 212 with Kamal Chopra making 53 followed by Harender Chaudhary (29). Chasing a moderate total, Winsom failed to withstand the guile of Randev and folded making 186.

In the third match, played Kotla 1, Young Association defeated Darling Club by seven wickets. Darling, choosing to bat, made 136, with YV Tyagi topscoring (41). But Young Association easily overhauled their total to make 137 for three with an unbeaten half century coming from Prem Khanna.

Brief scores: RR Gymkhana 254 for 5 (Neeraj Chawla 80, Pradeep Chawla 78, Sandeep Angurala 32) bt Pusa Youngsters 167 (Atul Brown 71, Rajesh Brown 37, Sandeep Angurala 5 for 13, Chetan Nanda 4 for 25). Madras 212 (Kamal Chopra 53, H. Chaudhary 29, Sanjeev Kumar 31, S. Verma 2 for 19, K. Singh 2 for 34) bt Winsom Club 186 (Varun Kumar 32, G. Gambhir 29, Vikas Sharma 25, Aman Randev 6 for 32). Darling Club 136 (Y.V.Tyagi 41, Rohin Khanna 23 not out, Parag Bansal 5 for 39, Rahul Bansal 3 for 27) lost to Young Association 137 for 3 (Prem Khanna 50 not out, Mukesh Yadav 43, Manoj Dutt 2 for 13).
