PPYC welcomes rebels' expulsion

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, MAY 21: Punjab Pradesh Youth Congress president Devinder Singh Babbu and members and leaders of the party are on hunger strike in front of the Punjab Congress Bhawan, Sector-15, to press Sonia Gandhi to withdraw her resignation from the post of the president of the Congress Working Committee.

In a statement today, Babbu hailed the expulsion of Sharad Pawar, P. A. Sangma and Tariq Anwar from the party.

He described the action of the Congress Working Committee as sagacious, timely and necessary to maintain discipline in the Congress. He said that the trio deserved this punishment as they had betrayed not only Congress president Sonia Gandhi but the entire Congress organisation.

Terming the expulsion a boost to Congress loyalists, the PPYC president said that the action would serve as a deterrent to others too.
