The award comprising a citation and Rs 2500 in cash will be presented to Chavan on May 28, Bagal's 103rd birth anniversary.

Leftist leaders late Santaram Patil, former minister N D Patil, Govind Pansare, painter Ganpatrao Vadangekar and anti-superstitions activist Dr Narendra Dabholkar are among the earlier recipients of the award.

Literary personalities Pramod Koparde, Rekha Thakur, Nagnath Kotapalle and activist Rajiya Patel will be participating a four-day Bagal memorial lecture series beginning from Monday, Madhavrao Bagal Vidyapeeth president Baburao Dharwade said.
