VADODARA, May 23: The State Slum Clearance Board will construct at least 450 houses for the disabled in four major cities soon, according to State Labour and Employment Minister Bhupendra Lakhawala.Delivering the inaugural address at a meeting of disabled youths of marriageable age here on Sunday, he said the State government had decided to construct the houses in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot and Surat and allocate them through the board. He also apprised the gathering about various welfare schemes for the disabled.
At least 135 men and 49 women were present at the meet which was organised jointly by the Society for the Physically Handicapped and Greater Baroda Junior Chamber, a release said. Lakhawala also gave away as many as 15 tricycles to the disabled which were donated to the society by the Chimanlal Badshah Charitable Trust.
