Prohibitory orders extended
UT Deputy Commissioner M. Ramsekhar today extended prohibitory orders in the Union Territory for making it mandatory for the landlords to provide information about their tenants to the local police. Prohibitory orders for making it mandatory for the city residents to provide information about their servants and domestic help to the police were also extended in the Union Territory. Chandigarh Mayor Kewal Krishan Adiwal today visited the Sector 37-C market and gave a sympathetic hearing to grievances of the traders Besides highlighting the poor condition of parking areas and the adjoining roads, shopkeepers told the Mayor that as the market lacked proper water supply, they were compelled to fetch potable water from adjoining sectors. Soon after the meeting, according to an official release, Adiwal directed the MC officers to immediately take necessary action keeping in view the forthcoming monsoon season.
Sec 23 residents meet Adviser
A delegation of the Sector 23-D, Chandigarh, Residents' Welfare Association, led by its president, Gurdev Ram, met UT Adviser Vineeta Rai to urge expedition of various developmental works in the sector, including the construction of a foot-bridge, development of the Leisure Valley and upgradation of a primary school to high school. The Adviser gave them a patient hearing. The association also gave prizes to children who obtained distinction in Middle Standard examination this year, said a press release.
