CALCUTTA, MAY 26: Three persons were today arrested in the city for their alleged involvement in a betting racket during the crucial group A World Cup cricket match between India and Sri Lanka.Following today's arrests, the number of those held in connection with betting in West Bengal during the World Cup has risen to 14.
Deputy commissioner (detective department) of city police Narayan Ghosh told newspersons the three were nabbed during a raid in a house under the Jorasanko police station.
Some electronic equipments including mobile phones and Rs 64,000 in cash were seized from the house which served as a collection centre for the betting syndicate.
