Ashu, Robin, Japneet champs

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
CHANDIGARH, MAY 30: A large number of Defence Forcers officers and civilians teeded off in the Golfing Carnival which was organised at the Shivalik Golf Course at Chandimandir, near here today. Competitions were conducted in different categories. The main aim of the event was to promote golf and attain ultimate inter-action between two golf clubs of the region — Chandigarh Golf Club and Shivalik Golf Club.

The participants ranged from 12 years to 88. This was the first time that such a big event was organised by the Shivalk Golf Club since it came to existance. Greens and fairways played true.

Brig SS Chowdhary dominated the above 65 years category where he emerged champion relegating Brig Satjit Singh to the runner-up position. SD Kaila was third.

Robin Saini stole the show in the below 65 years category. Lt Col HM Singh was second and the third place went to Brig Keshaw Anand.

Ashu Singh gave consistent display while winning the crown in the ladies section. Binny Bath and S Kaur finished second and third respectively.

Japneet Gharaya and Shruti Reddy were the star attractions in the children below 13 years. Japneet won the title while Shruti got the second prize.

Above 65 years: 1 Brig SS Chowdhary, 2 Brig Satjit Singh, 3 SD Kaila.Below 65 years: 1 Robin Saini, 2 Lt Col HM singh, 3 Brig Keshaw Anand, 4 Capt M S Saheta, 5 Anil Ghakhar, 6 Maj Gen P vij, 7 Col Harpeet Singh.

Ladies: 1 Ashu Singh, 2 Binny Bath, 3 S Kaur.

Children below 13 years: 1 Japneet Gharaya, 2 Shruti Reddy.
