Appeal for donations to build proposed trauma centre

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, June 6: State Health Minister Ashok Bhatt has given a clarion call to donate for the government's proposed trauma centre at the SSG Hospital here.

Inaugurating the State's first ambulance service run by a public trust Shree Arvindrai Keshavlal Vaishnav Charitable Trust at the hospital on Sunday, Bhatt said the decision to set up a trauma centre was taken considering the presence of a large number of hazardous industries in the district and lack of a full-fledged centre in any city hospital to handle several casualties at a time.

Appealing benevolent individuals and fora to come forward for the cause, Bhatt said the unit would be named after the person or the forum who would give the highest donation. He also felicitated trust head Arvindrai Vaishnav and donor P K Shah at the inauguration, which was attended among others by member of Parliament Ahmed Patel, Mayor Bharati Vyas, State Labour and Employment Minister Bhupendra Lakhawala, MLA Yogesh Patel and former ministers Prabodh Raval and Sanat Mehta.

According to official information, the centre would be in constant touch with fire service as well as other voluntary bodies. The trust proposes to run four ambulances on subsidised rates for patients.

Highlighting various ongoing projects such as aids counselling centre, genetic laboratory and other proposed plans to upgrade various faculties of the hospital, he said the State government would render the best health facilities to the people of Gujarat.
