VADODARA, June 6: The Safety and Environment (SEM) Division of ONGC, Vadodara held a quiz competition on June 1, to mark the World Environment Day celebrations. The first prize was won by S K Jain, superintendent chemist, while P S Panjwani, EE (electronics) and A K Saxena, superintendent chemist bagged the second prizes.A consolation prize was given to L M Notwani, steno Gr-I. A function was also held on the eve of the World Environment Day at ONGC Officers' Club. G A Patel, Chief Conservator of Forest (wild life), government of Gujarat was the chief guest at the function, which was also attended by Rajeev Kumar, Conservator of Forest. N Lal, Executive Director, WRBC was the guest of honour.
Rally held: ONGC, Western Region co-sponsored the `Green Vadodara Movement' organised by The Indian Express. A rally held as part of the celebrations was flagged off by N Lal from opposite the Polo Club. The participants converged at Hotel Welcom Group from where they moved to Sardar Baug, where trophies were distributed for the environmentally green society, school and corporate house. Dr G M Oza was presented the `Lifetime Achievement Award' by N Lal for his contribution to environment protection. A corporate quiz was also held in the evening, in which four teams of ONGC took part.
Yard converted into park: An abandoned scrap yard has been converted into a park named `Lumbini Park' near Regional Stores. The park was inaugurated on June 2. Speaking on the occasion, N Lal appreciated the efforts of C Patra, S E (drill) in laying the park.
Volleyball tournament: ONGC Vadodara Volleyball team participated in the All-Gujarat Volleyball Tournament at Thangad, Saurashtra from May 15 to 17 and emerged runners-up.
