Knocked over A cyclist was crushed to death on Sunday morning after the wheels of a truck rolled over his abdomen on the road opposite S V R College. Chimanbhai Pelaas, a manual labourer, was on a bicycle with his wife when they were hit by a truck. While Mangiben escaped miraculously (she fell on the opposite side after being hit by the truck), the truck rolled over Chimanbhai, killing him instantly. The unidentified driver of the truck (GJ 5 V 3132) fled the scene after the incident that took place at around 8:30 am, the Umra police, who have registered a case under sections of the IPC and MVA, said.Burns deaths Two women, both married, died of burns in cases registered in the Katargam and Udhna police stations on Sunday. Kaliben Raju Kanji (24), a resident of a Katargam slum, died on Sunday morning in the New Civil hospital. The police stated that she was cooking on Saturday night when the stove exploded, causing severe burns. In another case registered at the Udhna police station, Asmabegum Ismail Khan (31) of Sanjaynagar slum died in the Maskati hospital at noon on Sunday. She sustained severe burns on Saturday evening while cooking, her dying declaration said. Cases under CrPC 174 have been registered. Abandoned The Mahidharpura police have taken into possession a two-day old baby girl, which was found abandoned in an SMC dust-bin near the Old Sardar market. The baby girl was seen by residents of Umarwada Tekra area at around 2 am today who informed the police. A case has been registered against the unidentified mother under section 317 of the Indian Penal Code, and the baby sent to the Naari Sanrakshan Gruh.
