Police raid gambling dens
A night police patrol party headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Mohan Jha raided two gambling dens in Navayard Railway Colony late last night and arrested 18 people. The police party also seized Rs 8,000 from their possession. The arrested persons include ring leader Namdev Gopal Shirke.

Threat case
The Fatehgunj police have registered a case against Dhanjibhai Marwari and his wife Hiraben Marwari of Sama area on the charge of threatening to kill a woman, Nishaben Dave. According to the police, the accused allegedly trespassed into Dave's house and threatened to burn her alive over a minor dispute.

Vehicles stolen
In three cases of vehicle theft registered by the police during the last 24 hours, a Kawasaki motorcycle (GJ-6-MM-6693) worth Rs 35,000 was stolen from Krishna Apartment in Gorwa area, a Bajaj Super scooter (GJ-6- Q-9587) worth Rs 10,000 from near Lal Akhada Bholenath Mandir under City police station, and another Bajaj Super scooter (GJ-6-5603) worth Rs 11,000 from Wadi area. Investigations are on.

Two arrested
The Panigate police arrested two persons armed with a knife and sharp edged weapons while they were waiting at the Waghodia Road Crossing on National Highway no. 8 in suspicious conditions last night. According to the police, a night patrol party passing by the crossing checked the two persons and recovered the arms from them. While one of them, Vipubhai Nagarbhai Rohit, is a resident of Ramdev Nagar in Gotri area, the other, one Lalabhai Jivanbhai Bharwad is a resident of Diwalipura under J P Road police station. Their interrogations are on.

Thief caught
The Sayajigunj police on Monday claimed to have solved the theft of five mopeds by arresting a vehicle-lifter and recovering five stolen mopeds from his house in Ghanshyam Park Society on Warasia Road. According to the police, the interrogation of 16 year old Prasad Ratilal Nirmal Parmar is still on and there were chances of recovering more stolen vehicles from him.
