Cardiac services at G B Pant
Round-the-clock emergency services for cardiology and cardiac surgery will be launched at G.B. Pant Hospital soon, said Health Minister A.K. Walia today. He said that hospitals like LNJP, GTB and DDU had a facility for treating cardiac patients but there was a paucity of super-speciality treatment.

G.B. Pant Hospital is the only government hospital where superspeciality treatment is offered but as it is a referral unit, emergency cases are not admitted.

Walia said that poor patients would be the main beneficiaries of the proposed emergency services at G.B. Pant. Also, he said, with the new building, the bed strength of the hospital has gone up.

Polybags banned in Dadri mart
The management of NTPC Dadri has banned the use of polybags in the shopping complex at the Vidyut Nagar township. In the month-long campaign, shopkeepers have been directed to use paper bags instead. The management has also requested the residents to say no to polybags and help to protect the environment by using cloth bags. On June 5, the World Environment day, the general manager of the NTPC Dadri, V.K. Sriwastava had directed the environment management group for free distribution of jute bags to the residents of township.

Police's Net suggestion box
The Delhi Police has launched a website, www.delhipolice.com, where queries, suggestions and complaints can be posted through the mail box. The facility can also be used for passing any information about suspected terrorists, criminals and any other matter connected to the police.

Pirated video tapes seized
Acting on a complaint, a Delhi Police team raided a video set-up in the Model town area of northwest Delhi on Monday evening. They have seized 285 pirated video CDs of English films and 235 pirated video cassettes under the Copyrights Act. Shop owner Mukesh Kumar has been arrested. Further investigations are on.

Woman killed
Putli Devi, 45, was attacked by some unidentified assailants near her residence on Monday night. When the family members heard her screams, they rushed out to find Devi lying unconscious. She had been hit by a blunt object. She was taken to GTB hospital where she was declared dead.

Excise raids
The Excise Department of the Delhi Government has conducted several raids and arrested 13 persons including four women for selling and smuggling unauthorized liquor. The department had conducted raids between June 2 and June 7. Around 2,128 quarter bottles of IMFL of different brands and 1,610 pouches and 104 bottles of country made liquor were confiscated during these raids. Liquor worth Rs 1.15 lakh has been recovered from these raids. On June 6, the department impounded a Maruti car and a TSR with large quantity of liquor. Fourteen cases under Excise Act have been registered in Badarpur, Shalimar Bagh, Ashok Vihar, Sarita Vihar, Bawana, Kashmere Gate, Prashant Vihar, Adarsh Nagar and Kalkaji.
