NEW DELHI, JUNE 8: To ensure that all pending work in government schools is completed during the summer vacations the Delhi government today issued an order stating that the principals of these schools will now have to work through the holidays.Education Minister Narendra Nath said that in lieu of the hours they put in during the summer vacations, the principals would be entitled to 30 days earned leave instead of ten days and this could be encashed at the time of retirement.
Nath added that this move would ensure that admission formalities for Class XI, matters relating to teachers and maintenance work were attended to before the schools reopened after the break.
He also said that two new districts - north-west (B) and west (B) -- had been created by bifurcating the existing north-west and west districts of the education department as these districts had very large jurisdictions.
Independent deputy directors will be provided to the new districts for effective monitoring of the schools that fall under them.
