BHUBANESWAR, June 13: Senior BJD leader Bijoy Mohapatra has said his differences with party president Naveen Patnaik stemmed from the fact that it (BJD) was not functioning as a political outfit.Holding Patnaik directly responsible for BJD's ineffectiveness, Mohapatra widely perceived as the rebel challenging the party president's authority, said in an interview to Sambad though it was one of the bigger regional allies of the BJP it could hardly do anything in Delhi or in the state.
``The BJD leadership has not taken up a single political programme since its inception and I am personally repentant that we have such leadership,'' he said.
``What was the BJD leadership doing when Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee could cause tremors (sic) in the Centre in the interest of West Bengal ,'' he asked.
``The party in fact has no proper organisation at the village-level. The party doesn't even have a proper office,'' he lamented. The interview, which has brought to the fore the sharp differencesbetween the two top BJD leaders, also touched the recent controversy over Patnaik's Inability to converse in Oriya and his perceived lack of knowledge about Oriya culture.
