CHANDIGARH, JUNE 21: District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum-I has directed Premier Automobiles to pay full interest due on the amount of Rs 21,000 to the consumer who sought to get the booking of her car cancelled. The order was given here by the Forum bench comprising president H.C. Modi and members Shashi Kanta and R.K. Behl.The deficiency was alleged here by Amritsar resident Neeru who stated that she paid Rs 21,000 at the time of booking of the Uno car. She added that on receipt of the application and the demand draft, the respondent company issued her a priority number. Later, however, she added, she applied for cancellation of the booking and sought refund of Rs 21,000.
She added that during pendency of the complaint the company did issue her a cheque of Rs 23,900 but this sum did not include full interest.
After going through all the documents the Forum bench ordered the company to pay the interest at contractual rate of nine per cent per annum.
