Shoe trader booked for copyright violation, cheating

AMBALA, JUNE 21: A local shoe trader has been booked for violating the Copyright Act and cheating, by using the trade mark of the Relaxo rubber footwear company. He has been marketing locally manufactured rubber shoes and other items by affixing a fake seal for quite some time. A complaint lodged by the company manager, N.K. Zutshi, alleged that one Vir Bhan, owner of Messers Megh Raj & Brothers, Ambala Market, Ambala City was engaged in selling duplicate stuff carrying the seal of `Relaxo'. This. he alleged, had not only caused great loss to the company, but the substandard stuff had also affected its image.A police team led by the investigating officer recovered seals of Relaxo Footwear, plastic articles and other material used to manufacture the duplicate products.
