Cricket camp begins

PANCHKULA, June 21: The ten-day long summer coaching camp for budding cricketers of Panchkula began here today at the Hans Raj Public School in Sector 6. The main stress in the camp, however, will be to improve the fundamentals of the players who are in the age group of 10 to 16 years. ``Learning proper technique at the right age is vital,'' said Sanjay Verma, in-charge of the camp. Sanjay is also assisted by Harpreet and Kapil.

26 players were recently selected for the camp, who will fundamentals of the game. ``Most of the selected players know how to play cricket but all of them are lacking in the basic game sense. Like, how and when to go for a quick run between the wickets,'' said Sanjay.

Apart from physical training the morning hours will be devoted to fundamentals of the game through theory and practical classes. The players will practice at the nets in the evening session.

On the opening day of the camp today, due to water logging conditions, the players, however, could not do nets.

They went for general exercise which was followed by catching practice.
