Malik calls for strict vigil on borders

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
CHANDIGARH, JUNE 22: Chief of Army Staff General V.P. Malik today called for maintaining a strict vigil along the country's frontiers and emphasised the need of keeping all ranks informed of the factual position. Addressing station officers at the military station, Bhatinda, Gen Malik said the Army was doing a commendable job in flushing out the Pakistan-backed infiltrators in Jammu and Kashmir. He said all ranks should be kept informed of the correct input and not fall prey to rumour mongering.

Malik said the three Services Chiefs were working in unison and were fully prepared to meet any challenge.

Earlier, the Army chief was received at the military station by Lt Gen H.B. Kala, Western Army Commander and Corps Commander Lt Gen G.K. Duggal.
