SURAT, June 22: The Prevention of Crime Branch on Tuesday arrested two city-based traders who were involved in bootlegging of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and booked them under provisions of the Prevention of Anti Social Activities Act (PASA).Prakashchandra Dhanraj Shah (42), the owner of a shop named Green Bell in the posh A C Market at City Centre, Parle Point, and his close relative Ketan Ramanlal Shah (30) were taken into custody today and have been despatched to jails to serve sentences.
According to the PCB, Prakashchandra Shah, a resident of Nilkanth Apartments near the Old Umra octroi post, along with Ketan Shah who resides at Saiashish Society, Rander Road, had been selling IMFL from the shop in City Centre for the last few months. On receiving information about their activities, Detection of Crime Branch PI M G Kaneriya informed the PCB and recommended their arrest under PASA.
Further investigations revealed that both Pravin Shah and Ketan Shah were also selling IMFL from Ketan Shah's house.
A PCB release issued here said that after sending in bogus customers and verifying that the two were selling IMFL from the shop and house, a team of PCB police arrested the two. While Pravinchandra Shah has been sent to the Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad to serve a sentence, Ketan Shah has been despatched to the Bhuj district jail.
